A few weeks ago, one of the world’s most celebrated museums, the Mauritshuis in The Hague, re-opened after a two-year major renovation.
The Mauritshuis is a beautiful 17th century Dutch palace.

The museum houses the world famous painting collection that will again be displayed in the fully renovated and expanded Mauritshuis.
The renovated Mauritshuis doubles its surface with an underground expansion into a building on the other side of the street. A big change is the relocation of the main entrance to the forecourt.
The new wing will house the exhibition space, the brasserie, and the museum shop. It will also accommodate the educational Art Workshop, a library and an auditorium.

The Mauritshuis is also the home of Johannes Vermeer’s masterpiece 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'.

JohannesVermeer (1632 1675) was a Dutch painter who specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life.
I will never forget, that years ago, I had to describe the work of David Teniers the Younger, to graduate as an antiques dealer. I found a lot of information about this 17th century Flemish painter at The Mauritshuis, as this musem houses several of his works.

David Teniers the Younger (15 December 1610 – 25 April 1690) was a Flemish artist born in Antwerp, the son of David Teniers the Elder. His son David Teniers III and his grandson David Teniers IV were also painters.
All the works of art of the Mauritshuis collection can now also be admired online. Most of the collection has been photographed in high resolution, allowing you to zoom in to the smallest details.
This is gorgeous! You really have to try this out. Browse the Mauritshuis collection HERE .
